Getting little ones involved in the shopping experience is the key to a happy, fun & educational shopping outing.
Discuss the expected behaviour before you go shopping and determine a suitable reward to recognise good behaviour such as a play in the supermarket play area, a health smoothy or a choice of healthy snack once the shopping is complete, and build some excitement about the games they are going to play while shopping.
Shopping is a great way to teach your kids about good behaviour in public and to show them ways to entertain themselves. Why not try the games below and see if you can turn your next shopping trip into some fun, quality family time.
Here you will find a growing number of games for kids to play while shopping.
We recommend that you laminate the games and/or use a clipboard (A5 clipboards can be bought from your local office suppliers store for around $2 – let your little one decorate it themselves with stickers or their favourite contact)
If you are concerned about letting the kids lose in the shopping centre with a pen – why not purchase some small easy to apply stickers to mark their games (sticker sheets are available from your local office store for around $2 a sheet), or let the use a special stamp to mark off their games.
- Game 1: Today’s Spy Mission – today’s secret mission if you choose to accept it, is to find and tick off all the tasks on the special spy check sheet. Some are easy, some are a little harder. You may have to use your super spy powers to complete some of the items on the spy mission sheet. Make sure you look closely at the labels of the grocerys on the shelf to complete the tasks. Complete all the tasks and you will be “super-est” of super spys!
- Game 2: Shopping Bingo – find and mark off all the items on the sheet to win!
- Game 3 : My Name Shopping Hunt – find items starting with each letter of your name and mark the letters off as you go (if it gets a bit hard they can find words with the letters of their name in the word, this might help the Xander’s & Zane’s out there)
- More games coming soon!
Remember Mums this will be hard work for your little ones so make sure they have plenty of snacks and refreshments to give them the energy they need to complete their games.
Trollipop can help you store everything you need for your next shopping trip. It helps you be more organised so you can have your hands free to shop and help your little ones with their games.
